With nine children and a love of camping, we became creative at finding safe play spaces for the toddlers. We used the canoe more often for a playpen than to actually get onto the lake. So also the space in the family van. The cooler is perfect for standing, the lid convenient for drumming, and if mom sets the cookie bucket within reach, even better! Who knew 18 month old fingers could remove the lid? Who knew an 18 month old brain knew the cookies were inside? Put me down as a slow learner. By child number 7 I should have been cognizant of both possibilities. Right? Not so much. Even child 9 tossed unexpected surprises at me. But hey, what’s a few sampled cookies for such a priceless memory…and the pictures to match.
